Encouragement for Sales Professionals in Difficult Times

by | Apr 14, 2020

Hi it’s Ben Lai from Sales Ethos. I hope you and your family are keeping safe and are well during this very challenging and difficult time. I thought I would create a video just to provide a little bit of encouragement for you. We could all use a little bit of good news when we’re going through hard times. I thought this would be a perfect opportunity to do that. This blog is an encouragement for sales professionals in difficult times.

1st Encouragement for Sales Professionals in Difficult Times: The Crisis is Temporary

My first encouragement to you is to remember that the current crisis that we’re going through is temporary. As difficult as it is, whether it’s six months or 12 months, or even 24 months. This is going to last for a finite amount of time. Therefore, we can look forward to the future. We know that better times are coming ahead of us. And from that perspective, when we have something to hope for it helps to lift our spirits and our morale. So keep looking forward to that time, when times will improve.

2nd Encouragement for Sales Professionals in Difficult Times: You Are Not Alone

The next thing I want to encourage you is if you’re feeling down about yourself or about your situation, that you are not alone. There are many other people going through the same thing. What I want you to do is to gather those people around yourself so that you can share with each other. Share your struggles, and find some sort of solidarity and collective support through those groups. So I’m sure a lot of you who are in the sales profession will find that a lot of prospects are saying that they don’t want to do anything right now, because of the current events. And that’s fair enough. Get other people that you can talk to about your struggles and get that support that you need.

3rd Encouragement for Sales Professionals in Difficult Times: Build Character

Finally, my third encouragement for you is to remember that it is the difficult times that creates good character. In the words of the late, great, Jim Rohn; he said that “Smooth waters don’t make skilled sailors.” I feel that that’s worth repeating. “Smooth waters don’t create skilled sailors.” This is a challenging time, and it is an opportunity for us to work on our skills and our character to come out all the better once we do reach the tail end of this crisis. So, look out for those opportunities. Whether it’s time for reflection, time to spend with your family, or time to sharpen your sales skills, to practice with your colleagues or to practice with your family. Whatever it is, look for the opportunities to improve yourself during this difficult time.

Conclusion

Those are my three encouragements for you. So once again, that is to remember that this is a finite problem that we’re facing. There are plenty of other people in the same boat and that you can look to each other and band together to support one another. Finally, this is actually a unique opportunity for you to develop certain skills and character as a result of difficult times.

Emotional Management for Sales Professionals

Now, if you’re finding that you’re having difficulty, especially from an emotional perspective, I’m actually putting together a course on emotional intelligence. What you will learn from this course is how to manage and to understand your emotional states better.

As a result, you will be able to manage your activities and your sales interactions with a lot more confidence. You will build stronger character and be much more aware of your emotional states. One of the other side benefits of this is that understanding your emotions better will help you to understand others better. If you’re feeling particularly anxious or depressed at the moment, I strongly encourage you to have a look and see if this is right for you. As someone who used to suffer from depression myself, and has worked through it, there may be some tips that will help you to get through this very difficult time.

So if you would like to see if this course is right for you, feel free to follow the links below or send me a private message. But in the meantime, I wish you and your family the best of safety and prosperity as we go through this difficult time together.
